VISION Issue 2011

Dear customers and partners,

still missing a few days to kick off the 24th VISION International trade fair in Stuttgart.
We want to get you in the right mood for the most important exhibition for Machine Vision and give you an insight into our program between 08th and 10th of November.
Our VisualApplets product line goes into the next main release, while the SmartApplets is to be extended to 3D functionality. Another highlight is the presentation of the 5th generation of microEnable frame grabbers. With the support of the "next generation" interfaces, the benchmark for the transmission bandwidths is set in the gigabyte range, the handling of image acquisition is much easier and gets more comfortable operating functions.

Do not miss the show. Call us or write us and let us sent free tickets to you.
We look forward to welcoming you at the show.

Sincerely yours,

Andreas Marx

New microEnable 5 generation

With our new generation of microEnable 5 frame grabbers, we are supporting the "next gen" interfaces for image processing. After the successful presentation of a programmable Camera Link HS frame grabber on the Automate show in February 2011, now CoaXPress frame grabbers are shown at the VISION2011. We present variants with 4*BNC inputs, with 5W5 connectors and with dual fiber optic inputs.

microEnable 5 is based on a PCI Express x8 (Gen 2) interface and use our own DMA3600 technology for the image transfer to the PC. The frame grabber covers bit rates of 6.25 Gb/s. The proven concept of A-and V-series frame grabber for image acquisition and image processing will be continued. The launch of microEnable 5 is scheduled for 2012.

New 3D SmartApplets family

With a focus on 3D measurement, we release two new SmartApplets families. Method of the 3D measurement is the light section based laser triangulation. The determination of measuring points is directly processed on the internal hardware of the frame grabber board. This ensures a real-time behavior with no additional load of the CPU. To use the highest quality of measuring, the Peak Detector algorithm of the Spanish company Aqsense and alternatively a center of gravity algorithm are implemented.

SmartApplets are application specific, complex hardware programming (applets) that are loaded on the frame grabber and run without any load of the CPU. The software can be run immediately and does not require any additional programming. Settings for each individual function blocks are only configured or parameterized. The fine adjustment is done via a graphical configuration or the SDK. SmartApplets run on microEnable IV frame V-series grabbers.

New Version: VisualApplets 2.0

With the leap to version 2.0, we continue developing our graphical programming tool for FPGA hardware. The GUI and handling of the software were revised and are even more intuitive. Support of new frame grabbers has been added and existing image processing libraries have been enhanced and optimized. An extended range of exemplary application designs allows a rapid and successful entry into applied hardware programming.

VisualApplets is an integrated development environment for real-time applications on FPGA hardware in Machine Vision. It covers tools for automatic error indication and correction, and gives the possibility of a visual debugging with its high-level simulation. For the programming of applications more than 200 real-time operators in 14 image processing libraries are included. VisualApplets runs on 32bit and 64bit Windows systems.

VISION 2011 attractions

Main program is the introduction of our new frame grabber generation microEnable 5 for 2012. We present the boards in demonstrators for a real-time 3D measurement.

A direct comparison of the performance of our image processing boards can be seen from embedded processing-systems to high-speed solutions based on Camera Link. By VisualApplets you get an idea of how fast and easy hardware programming can be today.

Come and visit us at booth 4D72 in hall 4.
